Normanna Lodge on Oakes Avenue draws dancers of all ages to its 45-by-45-foot hardwood floor every Tuesday night for country dancing, line dancing and couples dancing.

The lodge, formally Normanna Lodge 2-003 of the Sons of Norway, was established in 1947 as a gathering place for Everett's Norwegian community. The hall at 2725 Oakes Ave. has become a weekly destination for country-music fans across Snohomish County, as The Herald first reported on Tuesday, Oct. 13.

Free lessons led by dance instructor Jen Workman begin at 7 p.m. Dancing runs until 10 p.m. Admission is $10, and the event is open to all ages, according to the lodge's events page. A bar in the Viking Lounge serves guests 21 and older.

The crowd spans generations.

Memphis Studley, 12, travels from Sultan each week with his aunt, Kendra Chynoweth, a regular for several years. "I like the music and how there's no people laughing at you while you're dancing," Studley told The Herald.

Hayden Berkheiser, 18, started attending in high school and is a freshman at Western Washington University in Bellingham. She told The Herald she plans to start a country-dance meetup on campus.

Doug Blay and his husband Tim Pfahl make it their weekly date night. Blay told The Herald the event is "an unexpected delight with oodles of people attending."

The lodge's programming extends well beyond Tuesdays. Its website lists ballroom dancing on Thursdays from 1 to 3 p.m. and a chess club on Thursdays from 6 to 9 p.m. A cornhole tournament runs Thursdays from 5:30 to 11 p.m., and karaoke nights fall on the second and fourth Saturdays.

A monthly pancake breakfast runs September through May on the second Saturday of each month, 8 to 11 a.m. The next one is Nov. 14.

Membership is open to Norwegians and their descendants, along with anyone interested in Scandinavian culture. The lodge calls these members "Friends of Norway." Each of the lodge's two event rooms holds up to 220 guests, and the hall features two stages and two kitchens.

Snohomish County Councilmember Nate Nehring posted on X about visiting the lodge in May for Syttende Mai, the Norwegian Constitution Day celebration.

Tuesday Country Night runs every week at 2725 Oakes Ave. in Everett.
