Families walking to Fairmount Elementary in south Everett will soon have fully accessible crossings at two Beverly Park Road intersections where Snohomish County crews are finishing ADA-compliant curb ramps and audio-cue pedestrian signals.

Snohomish County Public Works said on X on Tuesday, Aug. 25 that concrete work is wrapping up at Beverly Park Road and Center Road and at Beverly Park Road and the Fairmount Elementary entrance. The upgrades, listed as Project #RC1785, include new curb ramps with detectable warning surfaces and Accessible Pedestrian Signal pushbuttons that emit audio cues to help vision-impaired pedestrians cross safely.

The upgrades are built to Americans with Disabilities Act standards, according to the county's project page.

What changed

Construction began the first week of August 2026. The work zone stretches along Beverly Park Road between roughly 121st Street SW and 112th Street SW, in the corridor between Mukilteo and Everett.

Single-lane closures caused minimal traffic delays during construction, the county said, and pedestrian access to Fairmount Elementary was maintained throughout. The project adds audible crossing technology and tactile ramp surfaces to two intersections that serve the school's walking routes.

What's next

No specific completion date has been announced beyond August 2026. The project cost has not been disclosed.

A larger related project is on the horizon. Snohomish County plans to install sidewalk, curb, gutter and planter strips on the north side of Center Road from 10th Avenue W to 8th Avenue W to fill a gap in the school walking route. That project is projected to cost $2.39 million and is scheduled for winter or spring 2029, according to the county's Center Road project page.
