Everett residents can drop off leftover latex paint for free at McCollum Pioneer Park on Oct. 31, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Three organizations are co-hosting the collection: Snohomish County Solid Waste, GreenSheen Paint and the WSU Snohomish County Extension Sustainable Community Stewards. Snohomish County Public Works announced the event on X, saying the drop-off will accept unlimited quantities of latex-based paint, stains and similar products in 5-gallon or smaller containers at no charge.

The drop-off takes place at 600 128th St. SE, near the Everett-Mill Creek border.

Residents are encouraged to reserve a spot in advance through the event registration page.

GreenSheen Paint, a Colorado-based recycler with Washington operations, collects leftover architectural paint nationwide and processes it into new latex coatings, according to the company's website. The recycled paint is sold through Habitat for Humanity ReStores, independent retailers and commercial partners.

The Sustainable Community Stewards, WSU Extension volunteers across Snohomish County, lead recycling education at local events, workshops and farmers markets. The program works to improve recycling habits and reduce the amount of reusable material headed to landfills.

GreenSheen promoted the event on Facebook, urging Snohomish County residents to clear out old paint before winter.

The event is open to all Snohomish County residents. Only latex-based products in containers of 5 gallons or smaller qualify for the free drop-off.
