Everett Rowing Association raised $22,260 for breast cancer care at the annual Pink Ribbon Row in Seattle on Sunday, Sept. 20, posting the second-highest total among 27 participating clubs.

The fundraiser capped a busy weekend for ERA. The day before, the nonprofit hosted the 30th annual Otter Island Touring Regatta at its boathouse at Langus Riverfront Park, drawing 156 rowers from 13 clubs across the Pacific Northwest and as far as California, the Everett Post first reported.

ERA has operated from the park since its founding in 1984.

Competitors raced eight miles through the Snohomish River sloughs, then returned to the park for ERA's traditional salmon barbecue. Visiting teams could borrow ERA boats and use ERA coxswains to navigate the course.

"We lend the boats, carry those boats down to the dock, and then show participants our beautiful racecourse," ERA Executive Director Jon Campaña said. "It's really incredible."

Kenmore Community Rowing Club posted the fastest time, earning the regatta's "Get Otter Our Way Award." ERA didn't race its own boats. The event serves as a fundraiser for the organization.

At the Pink Ribbon Row on Sept. 20, ERA fielded 12 boats with youth and adult athletes. Everett's junior rowers earned second place in the Women's Junior 8+ and third in the Men's Junior 8+.

Campaña said the 2026 Pink Ribbon Row campaign has raised nearly $150,000 across all clubs. The event, held on Seattle's Lake Union since 1999, supports breast cancer education, screenings, treatment and patient services across the Pacific Northwest.

Portland rower Kathryn Frederick and Seattle's Penny Lewis, co-founder of Martha's Moms Rowing Club, started the event to unite the rowing community around the cause.

Campaña said ERA's athletes, families and supporters rallied around the effort. The organization serves youth and adult rowers throughout Snohomish County and fields competitive crews at regattas across the West Coast.

ERA's fall schedule continues with Tail of the Lake in Seattle on Sunday, Oct. 4, the American Lake Fall Classic in Lakewood on Oct. 11, Head of the Bull Trout in Lake Stevens on Oct. 25 and Head of the Lake in Seattle on Nov. 1.
