A new restaurant and lounge is serving breakfast through late-night drinks at 1709 Hewitt Ave. in downtown Everett.

The Alley Lounge, owned by Hector Lizarraga, opened at the Hewitt Avenue storefront, My Everett News reported on Wednesday, Oct. 21. The space previously housed Catalyst Cafe, Sidekicks Grill & Lounge, JayRay's Grill and Lounge and Sports Center Cafe.

Lizarraga also owns Tacos and Beer, a Mexican restaurant at 1405 Hewitt Ave. That location opened in late August 2024 after months of permitting delays, according to My Everett News. Tacos and Beer also has a location in Seattle's Greenwood neighborhood and a food truck in West Seattle. The Alley Lounge marks Lizarraga's second downtown Everett restaurant on the same street.

The new spot covers breakfast, brunch, lunch and dinner. The breakfast menu includes breakfast sandwiches, a "hangover" burger, eggs Benedict, omelets, chicken and waffles, pancakes and steak and eggs, with dishes priced from $13 to $24.

The dinner menu features seafood starters like clams and mussels, spicy calamari and clam chowder. Main courses include salmon, steaks, lamb shank, garlic chicken and burgers, priced between $18 and $30. The business bills itself as a place for food, cocktails and gathering.

The four previous restaurants at the 1709 Hewitt Ave. address underscore the challenge of making a dining concept stick at the location. Meanwhile, the Downtown Everett Association (DEA) launched its Downtown Vision and Action Plan in early October, a planning effort to shape the future of the core downtown district, according to Snohomish County Tribune. A public visioning workshop is scheduled for Nov. 12.

The Alley Lounge is open Tuesday through Thursday from 10 a.m. to 11 p.m., Friday from 9 a.m. to 12:30 a.m., Saturday from 9 a.m. to midnight and Sunday from 9 a.m. to 11 p.m. The phone number is 425-595-6763.
