Two south Everett intersections along Beverly Park Road will get new ADA-compliant pedestrian upgrades starting Monday, August 3, bringing audio-cue crosswalk buttons and textured warning surfaces to a corridor used daily by families walking to Fairmount Elementary.

Snohomish County Public Works announced the project on its official X account on July 28, saying work is expected to last through the end of August.

The new curb ramps will include detectable warning surfaces, the textured pads underfoot that alert pedestrians with visual impairments they are entering a crosswalk. Crews will also install Accessible Pedestrian Signal pushbuttons at both intersections. The buttons emit audio cues so vision-impaired pedestrians can cross safely.

All improvements will meet Americans with Disabilities Act standards, according to the county's project page for the work, listed as Project RC1785.

What drivers and families should expect

Some single-lane closures will occur during construction, but the county says motorists can expect only minimal traffic delays. Pedestrian access to Fairmount Elementary will be maintained throughout the project.

The county notes that construction schedules are subject to change based on factors including weather, staffing, equipment availability, and coordination with utilities.
