Everett residents can learn to build miniature fairy houses at a hands-on carpentry workshop Thursday, Oct. 1, at the Main Library, 2702 Hoyt Ave.

Artist Kristi O'Donnell, a Whidbey Island-based creator who runs the creative practice Kristio, leads two sessions: 1 to 3 p.m. and 4 to 6 p.m.

She teaches basic carpentry and design methods, then guides participants in decorating their builds. The finished houses work indoors or in a garden.

All materials are provided. Participants can also bring dried natural seeds, pods or mosses.

The workshop is open to ages 8 and up. Space is limited, and registration is required. Sign-ups opened Sept. 3 on the library's event page, where participants choose their preferred session. The program is funded by the Schack Fund.

The library has posted a construction alert about parking garage changes at the Main Library. Attendees should check the library's website for parking updates before Oct. 1.
