Everett's Main Library on Hoyt Avenue will close for all of November while crews tackle heating, ventilation and exterior building repairs.
The closure runs Nov. 1–30, according to the Everett Public Library's notice. The work will involve electrical shutdowns, crane operations, dust, strong odors and significant noise. A one-day shutdown already took place Oct. 17, and another is set for Saturday, Oct. 24, the Snohomish County Tribune reported.
The Evergreen Branch at 9512 Evergreen Way will pick up the slack with expanded hours. Thursdays and Saturdays will open two hours earlier than usual, at 10 a.m., the library said. The full November schedule:
- Sundays and Mondays: Closed
- Tuesdays and Wednesdays: 10 a.m.–6 p.m.
- Thursdays: 10 a.m.–8 p.m.
- Fridays: 10 a.m.–5 p.m.
- Saturdays: 10 a.m.–5 p.m.
The Evergreen Branch will also close Nov. 11 and Nov. 26–27 for holidays.
Patrons can still return books at the Main Library's book drop, though construction may block access at times. The library said patrons may also return materials at the Evergreen Branch or hold onto them until the Main Library reopens. Holds can be picked up at the Evergreen Branch or through its hold lockers.
Several programs are moving. Teen Karaoke, the Craft Swap, Insect Safari and Hydraulics with KidsQuest will relocate to the Evergreen Branch, the library said. Toddler Storytime shifts to the Everett Performing Arts Center's Anderson Room at 2710 Wetmore Ave., starting Nov. 3 at 10:30 a.m. for children 18 to 36 months and their caregivers. Preschool Storytime for ages 3 to 5 moves to the same location Nov. 4 at 10:30 a.m.
The library noted that some storytime arrangements are still being finalized. Program locations and times may change, and the library is asking patrons to check its online event calendar before heading out.
E-books, audiobooks and other digital resources remain available throughout the closure. Staff will contact anyone with an existing Main Library meeting room reservation to offer alternatives.
The closure runs through Nov. 30, and the library is directing patrons to epls.org/hvac for reopening updates.
