Three Everett students earned Rotary Club of Everett Student of the Month honors on Tuesday, Oct. 20, for academics, service and leadership across three high school campuses.

Vivienne Nguyen of Cascade High School, Lily Bryson of Sequoia High School and Joseph Cherry of Everett High School were recognized at the club's weekly meeting at Hotel Indigo, according to the Rotary Club of Everett. The club honors outstanding Everett high schoolers each month during the school year.

Nguyen, ASB president at Cascade, holds a 4.0 GPA while juggling National Honor Society, Key Club, Link Crew and Badminton Club.

She logged more than 200 hours of volunteer service last year.

She has served on the Everett Public Schools Foundation Board and started a new role this year on the city's Mayor's Youth Advisory Board, a 12- to 15-member panel that advises the mayor on youth representation in public policy.

Bryson stood out at Sequoia for turning classroom skills into community projects. After taking ceramics, she made items to sell at the school's spring bazaar, with proceeds funding free yearbooks. She led sustainability club members in growing plants to sell and worked with friends to build giant paper flowers for the event.

Cherry, Pacific Islander Club president and a member of Everett High's football defensive line, takes multiple Advanced Placement courses each year. He is also involved with Oceania Northwest, a nonprofit serving Pacific Islander communities in the Pacific Northwest.

All three stood out for service.

An unnamed teacher quoted in the Rotary announcement said of Cherry: "He is completely sincere in his curiosity, his generosity and his authenticity. It helps that he's wicked smart, too."

The Rotary Club of Everett meets Tuesdays at noon at Hotel Indigo, 1028 13th St.
