Forest View Elementary ranks as Everett's top school in U.S. News list

Forest View Elementary School scored 97.69 out of 100 in the 2027 U.S. News Best Elementary Schools rankings, making it the highest-ranked elementary school with an Everett address.

The school placed 28th among 1,169 ranked elementary schools statewide. Its reading and math performance both rated "Well Above Expectations," according to U.S. News.

Eighty-four percent of Forest View students scored at or above the proficient level in reading, and 81% reached that mark in math. Those numbers outpace the Everett School District, where 64% of students tested proficient in reading and 59% in math. Statewide, 50% tested proficient in reading and 46% in math.

The school, at 5601 156th St. SE, serves 634 students in pre-K through fifth grade. It has 34 full-time teachers, all certified, and a student-teacher ratio of 18 to 1. Fifteen percent of students are classified as economically disadvantaged.

An Everett district school ranked even higher

Tambark Creek Elementary School, which is part of the Everett School District but carries a Bothell address, ranked seventh statewide with a score of 99.49 out of 100. Ninety percent of its students scored proficient or above in reading, and 89% did so in math.

Tambark Creek, at 4419 180th St. SE in Bothell, serves 740 students in pre-K through fifth grade with 40 full-time teachers and a 19-to-1 student-teacher ratio.

How the rankings work

U.S. News based its 2027 rankings on state assessment data from the 2023-2024 school year, according to its published methodology. Half the formula measured raw math and reading proficiency scores. The other half evaluated those results against modeled expectations that account for socioeconomic factors.

There is no national ranking. Schools are ranked at the state and district levels.
