A thousand glass pumpkins have taken over the Schack Art Center on Hoyt Avenue, and they'll stay through Sunday, Sept. 27.
Schacktoberfest, the center's annual harvest-themed exhibition, opened Sept. 3 and features more than 100 artworks by regional artists, a silent auction in the Mezzanine Gallery and hands-on "Make It Now" glassblowing sessions in the hot shop. The exhibition is one of several fall arts events filling Everett stages and galleries this month and into October.
The silent auction closes at 5 p.m. Sept. 27. Bidders can register by texting "fallauction26" to 76278 or visiting fallauction26.givesmart.com, according to the Schack Art Center's Instagram.
Pints + Pumpkins caps the run
The centerpiece evening event, Pints + Pumpkins, is set for Thursday, Sept. 24, from 5 to 8 p.m. at the Schack Art Center, 2921 Hoyt Ave. Tickets include one drink, a souvenir pint glass and a buffet, 425 Magazine reported. Live music comes from DJ Holy Cannoli, with food by Lombardi's Italian Restaurant and local brews from Centennial Cider Co. and Scuttlebutt Brewing. A costume contest rounds out the night.
Raedle Alburn, the Schack Art Center's executive director, has emphasized the center's focus on connecting residents with regional artists. In August, speaking to My Everett News about the center's Fresh Paint Festival, Alburn said visitors have the chance to gain "a deeper understanding of the time, skill, and creativity behind every piece of art."
Make It Now pumpkin glassblowing sessions continue through October. Reservations are required and space is limited.
More fall arts across Everett
The Schack isn't the only Everett venue stacking its fall calendar.
Angel of the Winds Arena hosts Bollywood playback singer Shreya Ghoshal on Thursday, Sept. 24, at 7 p.m. at 2000 Hewitt Ave., according to the Herald's arts calendar.
Historic Everett Theatre, 2911 Colby Ave., has comedian Katie Boyle on Friday, Sept. 18, at 8 p.m. and Cars tribute band Good Times Roll on Saturday, Oct. 3, at 8 p.m.
Everett Civic Auditorium, 2415 Colby Ave., welcomes the Lubben Brothers on Saturday, Sept. 19, at 2 p.m. The triplets play 14 instruments between them, blending Celtic and American folk. Doors open at 1 p.m. A prorated season membership covering three upcoming Everett Civic Music Association concerts costs $45 at the door or at everettcivicmusic.com.
Everett Museum of History, 2130 Colby Ave., continues its "Dairies: The Cow Butter Story" exhibit through Saturday, Oct. 3. Curator Rebecca Monighan is available to speak with visitors about the farm families that built Everett's dairy industry.
Weekly live music
For regulars who want a standing date, several Everett spots keep live music on the weekly calendar. APEX Art & Culture Center at Kings Hall, 1611 Everett Ave., runs Blue Monday with the Blues Ambassadors every Monday from 7 to 9 p.m., open mic night every Wednesday from 7 to 10 p.m. and Latin Night Social every Thursday from 7 to 11 p.m.
