The Everett Silvertips signed goaltender Carter Crawford to a WHL Scholarship and Development Agreement, the team announced Tuesday, Sept. 1.

Crawford, a 2010-born native of Okotoks, Alberta, was the Silvertips' sixth-round pick (138th overall) in the 2025 WHL Draft. He spent the 2025-26 season with the Okotoks Oilers U17 AAA, posting a 6-9-2 record, a .901 save percentage and a 3.35 goals-against average.

The 6-foot, 153-pound goaltender won't suit up in Everett right away.

"Carter had a tremendous training camp and we have been very impressed with his progression since we selected him," General Manager Mike Fraser said in the team's announcement. "Carter will play U18 in Okotoks this season and we wanted to get him into our pipeline of goaltenders. We're excited to have him and his family on board."

Crawford attended two Silvertips training camps before signing. The agreement guarantees him a WHL scholarship for every season he plays in the league.

The signing adds depth as the reigning WHL champions prepare to defend the Ed Chynoweth Cup after losing captain Tarin Smith and alternate captains Carter Bear, Landon DuPont and Jesse Heslop from last season's roster, according to The Daily Herald.

Everett opens the preseason Friday, Sept. 4 against Tri-City at 7 p.m. at Angel of the Winds Arena. The regular-season home opener is Saturday, Sept. 19 at 6 p.m. against the Portland Winterhawks, with a banner-raising ceremony for the 2025-26 championship.
